What is AI prompt tracking?

AI prompt tracking means asking AI engines a fixed set of buyer questions on a schedule and recording each answer. Prompts do the job keywords do in SEO: they decide what gets measured, so a vague list gives a vague picture.

A typical B2B category comes to 40 to 80 distinct buying questions. Paprik suggests a starting set from your domain and lets you import, group, tag and pause prompts without losing their history.

What you get

Decide what gets measured

Prompts organised your way

Group prompts into topics, tag them by product, market or campaign, and filter every report by those groups. Pause a prompt without losing its history.

Bring your own list

Add prompts one at a time, accept the ones Paprik suggests, or import a CSV with a topic and tags on every row.

The searches behind each prompt

When an engine searches the web before answering, Paprik keeps the searches it ran. That is the wording your pages need to match.

Competitors found in your answers

Every brand AI names in answers to your prompts, with how often it is named. Track one with a click, or dismiss it so it stops coming back.

AI prompt tracking: common questions

What prompts should I track for AI visibility?
The questions a buyer asks before choosing a product like yours: category questions ('best X for Y'), comparisons, alternatives and problem questions. Questions that name your brand don't measure visibility, because AI mentions you in them almost every time; Paprik leaves them out of visibility, share of voice and rank automatically.
How many prompts do I need to track my brand in AI search?
Enough to cover how buyers ask, which in a typical B2B category is 40 to 80 questions. Paprik's Solo plan includes 20 prompts and Pro includes 100; Enterprise has no fixed limit. The limit covers your whole workspace, and paused prompts don't count toward it.
What are fan-out queries in AI search?
Fan-out queries are the web searches an AI engine runs on its own before it writes an answer. One prompt can produce several, often worded differently from the buyer's question. Paprik stores the fan-out queries ChatGPT reports for each prompt, which shows the wording your pages need to match.
How do I find out which competitors AI recommends instead of my brand?
Read the brands named in AI answers to your prompts. Paprik lists every brand AI names, with how often, including brands you never thought of as competitors. Track any of them with a click and they are measured on the same prompts as you.
Do prompts that name my brand count toward AI visibility?
No. AI almost always mentions you when the question names you, so Paprik leaves those prompts out of visibility, share of voice and average position. They still count for citations and sentiment.
What happens to a paused prompt's data in Paprik?
It is kept. A paused prompt stops running, its history stays in every report, and resuming it carries on from there.
How does Paprik match competitor names in AI answers?
By every name you give a competitor. Add aliases, such as a short name, an old name or a spelling in another script, and mentions under any of them count.
Can I import a list of prompts into Paprik from a CSV?
Yes. Upload a CSV with one prompt per row and, if you want, a topic and tags for each. Paprik imports them with the topic and tags attached.
