Backlinks measure who links to you. Visibility Sources measures which pages AI actually quotes when answering questions in your category — whether or not they link to anyone. A page with no links to you can still decide what AI says about you.
Does it cover pages that don't mention my brand?

How are sources classified?
Each cited host is typed as your own site, a competitor, a publisher, a community or user-generated content, or a directory. Classification rolls up subdomains, so a post on a community subdomain is typed correctly rather than defaulting to publisher.
